On today's Price is Right, a contestant got unbelievably lucky and won $100K - then got a CNG Civic in his showcase. I know they give away some awful base models on the show, but I'm hard pressed to think of a worse car to give away. Congratulations, you win the burden of progressiveness!

The Mitsu Mirage is definitely worse. I haven't actually seen one in person or driven one, but I refuse to believe that there is a worse car being made for America right now.

Somebody last week (or maybe it was the week before) missed out on a Nissan Leaf as she really, really underestimated the price.

Maybe the winner lives in Saskatoon.

I see them every other day, I'd rock one customized with proper alloys and better equipment. The worst car I ever drove was a Yaris. So small, dull, and noisy. It was put together well though.

worst give away I ever saw was when a broke college student won of these:

Kinja'd!!!

I know what you're thinking- how could that be a terrible car to give away? (model is appropriate it was years ago that this happened)

Well it's torturous, there's no way for that kid to insure, pay taxes, or even fill the tank on the damn thing. Sure he'll make some bank selling it, but damn he only won like 3k in cash on the show, that's not covering the taxes my friend.

I gave a good looking over of one at the Chicago Auto Show. It's like Mitsubishi used the first generation Chevy Aveo for inspiration. It really is the worst thing with wheels right now.

That said, being the worst doesn't mean it's inherently bad, because even the "worst" cars on sale today aren't completely penalty boxes, just undesirable.

don't someone win a Ferrari F430?

CNG in my area is cheaper than Regular, but the nearest station in any direction is at least 30 miles away. Nope.

IIRC, she was off by $15k for the showcase

I have driven one, can confirm it's a terrible car. But at least you can, you know, go to any gas station in the country.

they are pretty shitty, tbh. I'm sure the manual helps a little, but the CVT combined with plodding handling make for a very sad ride.

Even that's more than it's worth.

that is pretty bad, you're right. I always wonder if any of the contestants think about the taxes when they're on stage trying to win a $30,000 car or whatever.

yeah, you better hope you played plinko first and walked with some serious cash.

It's a different problem, and good problem to have but it still must SUCK lol

CVTs really kill it for me, but I'd actually wonder what it would take to make one desirable. It's such an oddball car, but it just sucks.

I like to think a CNG Civic is a nice change of pace, instead of another hybrid or electric car. Of course, I am unfamiliar of refueling station locations for this car. But, as the old saying goes, "To each, their own."

I don't know about worst, but this might be the best. Yeah, it's the V8 and yeah it's a Spyder but who cares, it's an R8.

Actually this is not that bad if you think about it. Whoever wins these things has to pay taxes on them, when they win something like an Audi R8 like the lady from Wheel of Fortune did they have to pay a shitload of money. Some States require you to pay this shitload of money immediately, other states let you pay it at the end of the year.

Either way, I'd rather win this and sell it/trade it in paying minimal taxes and use the $100k (much less after taxes again) and buy something I actually want.

Home fillup kits are where it's at. My friend had one for his CNG Caprice. It was so cheap to run! Burns super clean too. That thing ran amazing always! No gross buildup.

Are home fill-up kits legal in the US? I'd assume so as they are in Canada.

It made driving his Caprice cheaper than driving my Toyota! Insane! The exhaust smelled better too!

They gave away a Chevy Vega on Sept. 9, 1972. Unless they had a Citation at some point in the 1980s, I think you'd have a hard time topping that.

Kinja'd!!! area man > ranwhenparked

I'll use the same argument as I did against someone bringing up a Mirage as a counterpoint - at least you can visit any gas station in the country in a Vega (provided it doesn't fall apart on the way).
